Adopting a new puppy is an exciting time! You are adding a new member to your family, and there are plenty of wonderful years ahead of you, but what supplies do you need, and when do you get your puppy shots?
What Supplies Will I Need?
Basic puppy supplies include a crate large enough for them to sit up, stand, and turn around. This will be used for transportation as well as crate training if you so choose. You may want to get a crate that is large enough to accommodate the adult size of your puppy, especially if you have adopted a large breed. You can also pick up a variety of chew toys, puppy food, a dog bed, a collar, food and water bowls, and a leash.
How Can I Puppy Proof My House?
Get on your puppy’s level and scout out the things they may choose to chew on or get into. Get some baby gates if there are areas you need to be puppy-free. When they first arrive at the house, you may want to keep your puppy on a tiled area, or another surface that is easy to clean. We also recommend placing a mat under your puppy’s food and water bowls.
When Do I Schedule Puppy Vaccinations?
